a celebration of dance

 

1000 dancers from 19 countries performing 425 dances

The biggest dance competition ever



A week with bright sunshine on a lovely island and in a thrillingly beautiful venue, that was the background of Dance World Cup 2009 in Jersey. More than 1000 participants from 77 different schools from 19 different countries from all Continents performed 425 dances. Apart from a most impressive Opening Ceremony with a parade of all countries and of course the daily competitions, there was much time and space to meet new friends. In the cafeteria, at the art exhibition or at the playgrounds, everywhere dance students and teachers were seen talking to each other and practising together.

In the open class dance students who are working for a carreer as professional dancers are admitted, professional dancers are not admitted.

Attention:
In Open Class only those country may enter dancers which do not need visa. Countries which need visa in order to travel to Jersey may only enter children and junior dance students up to the age of 17 years.

Categories of style in which you may compete:

 

·         B – Classical Ballet and Demi Character Dance

·         N – National Dance, Folklore, and Character Dance

·         T – Tap Dance

·         M – Modern and Contemporary Dance

·         Z – Jazz dance, Show dance

·         H – Hip Hop, Break Dance and Street Dance

·         U – Musical Mime,

·         V – Song and Dance,


Every dance has to have three code letters:

·         Age category (Mini, K, J, O)

·         Number of dancers in this dance (S, D, G, GG)

·         Style of the dance (B, N, T, M, H, V)

 

Additional special regulations:

·         For girls age 12 – 13 years who want to perform a classical solo dance with point shoes, we offer the special class KSPB

·         Provided we will have enough entries, special solo classes for boys will be offered.

·         A solo dance in the style „Hip Hop“ is not possible.

How to come to Jersey

Jersey has an international airport with daily flights to London and many other cities around the world.

You may also come by ferry boat http://www.hdferries.com/ or www.condorferries.co.uk from Saint Malo. The boat cruises twice a day.

Participants are required to book accommodation themselves. We cannot do hotel booking for you. When booking your hotel, please, inform the hotel that you are coming to the Dance World Cup.

The Dance World Cup have a dedicated travel advisor to sort your accommodation needs out, please e-mail chris.evans@citravelgroup.com to sort out your accommodation needs quoting "Dance World Cup". The hotel figure quoted includes full English breakfast, all transport to and from the venue on all days, transport to the hotel from the harbour or the airport. Please when writing to Mr. Evans, tell him the number of children and parents coming and the budget per room if possible. He will then send you prices direct. It is your responsibility to find accommodation in Jersey not the organizers of the Dance World Cup.

 

 

Entry Fees for the Competition

Solo 20,- Euro per solo dance
Duet / Trio 15,- Euro per dancer and per dance
Group dance 12,- Euro per dancer and per dance
GG-Large Group   7,- Euro per dancer and per dance

 

There are NO additional fees, no membership fees!

 

Closing date for entries: April 30, 2009
